As an integral member of the ZoomerMedia team, you will be responsible for creating and managing all aspects of lighting for TV productions, working closely with the director and staff to support the director’s vision.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • College or university degree in television production or lighting design, or equivalent work experience
  • Blend artistic, technical, and design skills
  • Sound knowledge of drafting, machinery, tools, electronics, management, and technology related to lighting
  • Demonstrate organizational and communication skills, aesthetic aptitude, and the ability to collaborate with others to meet design goals
  • Working understanding of the role of makeup artists, camera operators, audio and other production personnel involved in the production of TV shows
  • Construction, electrical and safety training, including safe working practices using ladders and elevated work platforms
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Vectorworks or similar electronic drafting programs
  • Skilled at using Avolites consoles, particularly on Avolites Titan on PC
  • Good knowledge of Black Magic cameras, their capabilities and shortcomings
  • Knowledge of DMX control systems and DMX data networks, multi-universe protocols, optoisolators, circuit terminations, data cable, ethernet protocols
  • Good working knowledge of rigging, grid and electrical systems
  • Good working relationship with equipment suppliers and rental houses
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work on projects in anticipation of needs

Position Responsibilities & Characteristics:

  • Design and implement the lighting and special effects for television shows, including talk shows, concerts, and other shows
  • Use set design, stage plans, storyboards, photos, computer software and scripts to create lighting cues and devise a layout, while considering safety concerns
  • Create a light plot and lighting cues that include locations, colours and dimmers for all lights that are to be included in the production
  • Ensure the venue has adequate power source to run the lighting equipment
  • Work within a budget to maintain equipment inventory and rentals
  • Oversee a crew of technicians and stagehands
